We’re in this together

Saving for retirement can feel like a lot – after all, it takes your entire career to do it! The AutoZone match is designed to help you along the way by matching 100% of every dollar you contribute up to 3% and 50% of every dollar for the next 2% contributed. AutoZoners are eligible for the company match after one-year of service.

Who’s eligible

All full-time and part-time U.S. and U.S. Virgin Island AutoZoners age 18 or older can participate in the AutoZone, Inc. 401(k) Plan immediately upon hire.

You’ve got options

Whatever your retirement goals, you can elect to contribute 1% to 75% of your eligible earnings up to annual IRS limits. You can customize your Plan contributions based on what’s best for your unique situation. The AutoZone, Inc. 401(k) Plan has different contributions options:

Pre-tax Contributions

You’ll pay income taxes when you withdraw your money, typically in retirement. This might be a good option if you think your tax bracket will be lower when you retire.

Roth Contributions

You pay taxes when you contribute to the Plan, so you may be able to withdraw your money tax-free when you retire*. This might be a good option if you think your tax bracket will be higher when you retire.

Catch-up Contributions

If you’re age 50 or older, you can make additional pre-tax and/or Roth catch-up contributions, up to IRS limits.

*Withdrawals are tax-free if considered a qualified distribution. For a distribution to be considered qualified, the 5-year aging requirement has to be satisfied, and the distribution must be made after you turn age 59½, are disabled, or after your death.
